Running a Tiny Business
Tools for small business
Tiny Business
As someone that runs a tiny business I want to stay on focus and work on the things I’m good at and offload everything else to tools and other people. Since my business is a size of 1, I’m going to focus on the tools I use to make my life easier.
Finance
- Expensify - keep track of all your business expenses and milage.
- Spark Business - checking account, credit cards for your business
- Venmo/Paypal - to accept payments
Marketing & Hosting
- Amazon S3 - will be super cheap to host a static website, including HTTPS to show you care about security. Note this may require some technical knowledge to get up and running
- Mailchimp - for allowing your users to subscribe to email for your website
- Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, NextDoor, LinkedIn, Youtube, TikTok, Snapchat, etc - for social interactions, pick the networks that make the most sense for your business, not necessary to be in all of them. The more you pick the more you have to manage. Find out where your customers hang out the most and focus on that one.
- Google Analytics - keep track of traffic on your website
Docs and communication
- Google Drive - keep all your important documents and things on a drive folder, think business registration, contract templates, etc. Dropbox is also a good alternative
- Google Gmail - you’ll probably need an email address for official communication
- Slack - if you have a small team make sure you get a slack group going for quick communication. Think instant messenger but with tons of bells and whistles
- Trello - Keep track of your TODO lists
Miscellanous
- Lastpass - password manager, see my earlier post for details
Thanks
As always I’m always looking to improve this so if I missed something major let me know and I’ll add it. Email me at info@adigitaldad.com
